The silver reliquary contains the skull of the Saint as inscribed in the lower band of the cup with capital letters: CAPUT SANCTI ARCHELAI PRAESBYTERI ET MARTHYRIS, completed by the coat of arms with a derooted tree. At the base of the cylinder of the reliquary we find the inscription that reads: HOC OPUS FECIT FIERI JOAN(N)ES PAULUS SANNA CIVITATIS ORISTANEI ANNO 1620 ET RENOVATUM FUIT AB ILLUSTRI(ssimo) CAPITULO 1724 and a coat of arms with a wild boar, evidently referring to the surname of the commissioner. The reliquary, similar to the typology of the older one of San Basilio preserved in the Oristano church of San Francesco, was made in 1620 to house the precious relic that arrived in the city a few years earlier (in 1615) in much simpler forms than the current ones. The crown, the grid cover with the crown with a small cross belong to the renovatio of 1724. The reliquary has a bayonet shaft inserted into the original case as we still see it today. 1620 with additions from 1724
